Prof. Robert DUSSEY in Bamako: elevated to the rank of “COMMANDER OF THE NATIONAL ORDER OF MALI AS A FOREIGNER.”

  1. H.E. Prof. Robert DUSSEY, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Regional Integration and Togolese Abroad made a working visit to Bamako from May 10 to 11, 2023 during which he had a meeting with H.E. Colonel Assimi GOÏTA, Head of State and President of the Transition in the Republic of Mali.
  1. During the interview, H.E. Prof. Robert DUSSEY forwarded toH.E. Colonel Assimi GOÏTA, warm greetings from H.E.M. Faure Essozimna GNASSINGBE, President of the Republic, and welcomed the fraternal nature of the ties between Mali and Togo, as well as the excellence of their cooperation relations.
  1. H.E. Colonel Assimi GOÏTA thanked H.E.M. Faure Essozimna GNASSINGBEfor its many expressions of sympathy and support for the Transition, which is pursuing with full responsibility the work of rebuilding Mali, taking into account both the aspirations of the Malian people and the commitments made with the Economic Community of West African States West (ECOWAS).
  1. The President of the Transition informed Minister DUSSEY of the logistical and security arrangements that have been made for the holding on June 18 of the constitutional referendum which constitutes one of the decisive phases of the transition process.
  1. H.E. Prof. Robert DUSSEY welcomed the decision of the authorities of the Transition to hold, at the end of the first half of the year 2023, the referendum on the new draft constitution. The outcome of the referendum process will, according to him, provide the country with a new fundamental law.
  1. Minister DUSSEY reiterated to H.E. Colonel Assimi GOÏTATogo’s support for the Transition and the personal commitment of H.E the President Faure Essozimna GNASSINGBE to accompany the process to completion.
  1. H.E. Prof. Robert DUSSEY also thanked the President of the Transition for Mali’s participation in the first ministerial conference of the African Political Alliance (APA) held on May 3 in Lomé at the initiative of Togo.
  1. The President GOITA congratulated Togo for the launch of the African Political Alliance which, according to him, will enable African countries to make their voices heard on the international scene in a geopolitical and geostrategic context of great upheaval.
  1. During his stay in Bamako, H.E. Prof. Robert DUSSEY was decorated by H.E. Colonel Assimi GOÏTA “Commander of the National Order of Mali on a foreign basis” in recognition of his diplomatic and mediation efforts in the best interests of the Malian people and in the service of peace and sub-regional stability.
  1. Minister DUSSEY thanked the authorities of the Malian Transition for this act of symbolic recognition of the positive effects of Togo’s diplomatic action, the main architect of which is H.E.M. Faure Essozimna GNASSINGBE.      
  1. The head of Togolese diplomacy also met with H.E.M. Abdoulaye DIOP, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Mali. The two ministers, during their discussions, hailed the brilliant success of the work of the first ministerial conference of the African Political Alliance.
  1. The two ministers expressed their concern at the expansion of the terrorist threat on the continent and noted the need for States to pool their strategies in risk response initiatives. They also expressed their deep concern about the emergence of new hotbeds of tension on the continent.
