STATEMENT OF THE MEDIATION RELATING TO THE RELEASE OF THREE OF THE FORTY-NINE IVORIAN SOLDIERS ARRESTED IN BAMAKO ON JULY 10, 2022

  1. Under Togolese mediation, the authorities of the Malian Transition proceeded, today, to the release of three (03) of the forty-nine (49) Ivorian soldiers arrested on July 10, 2022 at the Modibo Kéita- Senou from Bamako.
  2. The President of the Republic, H.E.M. Faure Essozimna GNASSINGBE thanks the President of the Transition, Head of State, H.E. Colonel Assimi GOITA, and the Malian government for agreeing to release the three (03) soldiers for humanitarian purposes and welcomes the personal involvement of H.E. Mr. Alassane OUATTARA, President of the Republic of Côte d’Ivoire, in the search for a favorable outcome to the question of the forty-nine (49) soldiers
  3. The released soldiers have been handed over to the Ivorian side in Lomé and the President of the Republic reaffirms his availability and his determination to pursue talks with the two parties for the purpose of releasing the other soldiers.
  4. The President of the Republic thanks all the regional, African and international personalities and organizations working in support of the Togolese mediation for the release of the soldiers through diplomatic channels.
