Robert Dussey meets Antonio Guterres

The head of Togolese diplomacy Robert Dussey was received Wednesday in New York by the new Secretary General of the United Nations, Antonio Guterres.

Mr. Dussey congratulated the head of the UN for his recent election and conveyed the congratulations of President Faure Gnassingbé.

The meeting focused on the situation in Africa and cooperation between the United Nations System (UN) and Togo. UN agencies are very active with UNDP, which is leading the Community Development Program and WHO, among others.

Mr. Gutterres paid tribute to the Togolese soldiers whose work has been decisive in several peace missions (Sudan, Mali and Côte d’Ivoire, whose last contingent has just returned to Lomé).

Robert Dussey was accompanied by Franck Kpayedo, the Togolese representative at the United Nations.
