The Prof. Robert DUSSEY, Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Integration and Togolese Abroad, met on February 15, 2020 with his Russian counterpart H.E.Mr Serguei LAVROV in Munich.
Bilateral issues were at the center of discussions between the two Ministers, who welcomed the excellent quality of the cooperation and partnership relations between their two countries and agreed to diversify them while strengthening them as best as possible.
The Russian Minister, on behalf of his Government, congratulated the Togolese Government for the various reforms it continues to undertake and praised the performance of Togo highlighted by the 2020 report of “Doing Business” which ranks Togo is the leading reforming country in Africa and third worldwide in terms of economic reform. In order to strengthen and promote their economic relations, the two countries have agreed to organize an economic forum in which their economic operators will participate.
Regarding international issues, Minister Robert DUSSEY appreciated the new dynamic that characterizes relations between Africa and Russia, marked by the holding of the Russia-Africa Summit in Sochi on October 23, 2019.
Addressing issues of peace and security, the two Ministers focused their attention on the crisis and conflict situations prevailing in Africa and particularly in the Sahel and West Africa. Consequently, they reiterated the commitment of their countries to continue to act actively in favor of peace and, to this end, called for the peaceful settlement of the differences.
