The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Regional Integration and Togolese Abroad celebrated, this Wednesday, May 8, 2024, African integration, in anticipation of African Union Day usually celebrated on May 25, 2024.

Like past editions, this 4th edition aims to strengthen the bonds of friendship and cohabitation between the Togolese people and the foreign communities established on their soil and responds to the desire of H.E.M Faure Essozimna GNASSINGBE and the Togolese government to promote integration in accordance with its foreign policy and the ideals of the African Union.

The celebration is marked by folkloric and artistic performances as well as gastronomic exhibitions by foreign communities, aimed at highlighting African identity.

Togo has decided to celebrate, through various activities, African integration throughout the month of May as part of the preparations for the 9th Pan-African Congress.

Indeed, the 4th edition of African integration is being held in a particular context where the Togolese diplomatic agenda is marked in 2024 by the preparation of the 9th Pan-African Congress that our country will host, from October 29 to November 2, 2024 in Lomé, under the theme “Renewal of Pan-Africanism and the role of Africa in the reform of multilateral institutions: mobilizing resources and reinventing itself to act”

As a prelude to this major diplomatic meeting, African Integration Day offers the opportunity to lay the foundations for a reflection that will pave the way towards the 9th Pan-African Congress in Lomé.

It is in this spirit that a conference debate will take place on May 24, 2024 on the theme “education and pan-African identity for an Africa more adapted to the challenges of the 21st century”, in connection with the theme of the African Union for year 2024. This conference-debate will provide the opportunity to analyze the challenges of education in Africa in the quest for an African identity and in the context of the revival of Pan-Africanism.
