INAUGURATION CEREMONY OF THE HOUSE OF THE DIASPORA

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Regional Integration and Togolese Abroad, Prof. Robert DUSSEY, proceeded this Thursday, November 25, 2021 in Lomé, with the inauguration of the House of the Diaspora, seat of the High Council of Togolese Abroad (HCTE) and of the Diaspora Desk, two (02) institutions set up with the aim of optimizing the contributions of compatriots abroad to national development.

In his speech for the occasion, Minister DUSSEY underlined that the inauguration of the House of the diaspora is in line with the multiple actions initiated by the Government in accordance with the vision of the Head of State, HE Mr. Faure Essozimna GNASSINGBE to include and involve all Togolese in the work of national construction. It reflects the culmination of an ambitious process that began a few years ago, in particular since the creation of the Directorate of Togolese Abroad (2005) and with the national meeting of the diaspora (2014).

For him, the Maison de la Diaspora is the privileged place to welcome the diaspora, respond to its concerns (assistance to meet the needs) and to build projects leading to growth and development, for the well-being of the Togolese population in as a whole with the support of the HCTE Country Delegates.

Mr. Kodzovi ATITSO, President of the High Council of Togolese Abroad and Mr. Safiou RADJI, Coordinator of the Diaspora Window, recipients and beneficiaries of the infrastructure for their respective bodies, expressed, on behalf of the Togolese diaspora, their thanks for the strong and significant acts of the Government which testify to its unwavering desire to work with the diaspora and to encourage it to become more involved in the effort to build collective prosperity in our country. They reminded the diaspora of its essential role in national development. Finally, they considered the creation of the House of the Diaspora as a strong signal sent to the diaspora on the eve of the census of Togolese Abroad.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Regional Integration and Togolese Abroad takes this opportunity to thank all the partners who support it in all its initiatives in favor of the Togolese diaspora, particularly the International Organization for Migration ( IOM), AfDB, UNDP and the EU.
