At the invitation of H.E. Gideon SA’AR, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Israel, H.E. Prof. Robert DUSSEY, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Cooperation, African Integration and Togolese Abroad of the Togolese Republic, made a working visit to Israel from January 27 to 29, 2026.

This visit, which reflects the vitality of the fraternal relations and cooperation uniting the Togolese and Israeli peoples, demonstrates the common will of both countries to strengthen their political, economic, cultural, and security partnership, and to explore new opportunities for bilateral cooperation.

At the bilateral level, during his stay, Minister DUSSEY exchanged views with his Israeli counterpart on issues of common interest, in an atmosphere marked by cordiality, mutual understanding, and openness.

Both parties noted the need to review their legal framework for cooperation and expressed their common will to deepen it through concrete projects that are mutually beneficial and aligned with national priorities.

The discussions focused, among other things, on agriculture and rural development, public health, innovation, digital technologies and cybersecurity, training and capacity building, as well as economic and technical cooperation.

Both delegations also emphasized the need to establish a regular dialogue mechanism through the negotiation and signing of a memorandum of understanding establishing political consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Togo and Israel.

At the regional level, H.E. Gideon SA’AR commended Togo’s efforts in promoting political stability, governance, and peace in Africa. He particularly praised Togo’s role in promoting peace in the Sahel and the Great Lakes region.

The Israeli Foreign Minister also congratulated Togo on the successful organization of the 9th Pan-African Congress, which was held from December 8 to 12, 2025 in Lomé.

The two Foreign Ministers also exchanged views on certain current international political and security issues and reaffirmed their commitment to the principles of dialogue, multilateralism, and the peaceful settlement of disputes.

At the end of the visit, H.E. Prof. Robert DUSSEY expressed his gratitude to the Israeli authorities for the warm welcome and facilities provided to his delegation.

He invited his Israeli counterpart to make a working visit to Lomé. The latter accepted this invitation, the date of which will be mutually agreed upon.
