The Foreign Ministers of the Council of the Understanding countries held their 11th regular meeting in Lome on Friday.
This regional organization, including Benin, Niger, Burkina Faso, Côte d’Ivoire and Togo, intends to play a political, but above all economic and developmental role.

Participants reviewed the progress report and budget and the future of the Regional Road Maintenance Training Center (CERFER), a joint institution in the 5 countries.
The work was led by the head of Togolese diplomacy, the Prof. Robert Dussey with Patrice Kouamé, executive secretary of the Entente Council and Marcel Alain de Souza, chairman of the ECOWAS Commission.
Mr de Souza welcomed the progress made by the subregional organization in recent years after a long period of inactivity.
